"A Day Off in Your Arms" 16x12 acrylic and gold leaf
Boisjoli, a painter of international stature, has been painting professionally for more than 25 years and is best known for her abstract, figurative and landscape work accomplished in a vibrant, lyrical expressionistic style. Her palette of jewel like colors, often enhanced with gold leaf are a strong reflection of her deep emotional response to the painting process. Her new works, primarily florals, have given her the freedom to push the limits of texture, color and form. Her florals are even more lyrical and passionate than her landscapes and figurative work.
Dominique Boisjoli was born in Montreal, Quebec in an era of great creative explosion. Her artistic talents were recognized at an early age. She began her art studies at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts School at the age of ten and shortly afterwards, she began her studies with renowned artist, Alex Bertrand. Later, Denyse Delrue, an art director and coach, took her under her wing for a period of fifteen years, helping manage her career, as well as managing those of the artists Borduas, Riopelle, Pellan and Hurtubise.
During this period, Dominique Boisjoli was exploring abstract impressionism, thus refusing more conventional and traditional art styles.
Dominique is inspired by the landscapes she sees around her, the ocean and the people she meets in the course of everyday life. Passionate and subtle, her paintings celebrate the spiritual intensity of life.
